Wakene food complex plc is a family-owned private limited company registered and operating under the commercial law of Ethiopia. The Company was established in 2009G.C in one of the industrial zones of Addis Ababa.
Wakene food complex plc started its journey by investing 10 million ETB capital and plant wheat flour processer with a capacity of 42 tons per day by our continuous striving we can plant the second higher capacity production unit with wheat flour processing capacity of 82 tons per day this means we have a capacity to produce 126 tons of wheat flour per day. Also, we plan to start further production including pasta, macaroni, and biscuits with different sizes and tests and other wheat products.
In addition to wheat processing we import and export a wide range of products and we built our experience and trust among our customers.
Products of Wakene Food Complex have been tested by Ethiopian Conformity Assessment Enterprise, certified and licensed under license number 100261. The products are being periodically tested for conformity.
Wakene Food Complex has adopted regional segmentation of the local market in its strategy and hence focuses more on Addis Ababa, Western Oromia, and Gomella regions to market its wheat flour. The product has evolved to become a household brand in these regions. Currently, the company has a considerable number of potential customers that include consumer’s cooperatives, bakeries, pastry shops, hotels, and restaurants as well as wholesalers and retailers.
Wakene Food Complex has recently embarked on a project aimed at refining imported crude edible oil (sunflower, soybeans, and others) and supplying edible oil to meet quality standards and health requirements to local end-users. The project, at its completion, will have dual benefits of ameliorating the local supply of edible oil and contributing its share towards the protection of public health through the supply of oil that meets the required health and safety standards.

The company has now reached an annual production capacity of 26,500 metric tons (MT) for wheat flour and is working to expand further into macaroni and pasta production both for local and regional market.
